Chapter members assisted the state in stocking trout above the Central Street Dam this year. Our assistance is utilized in order to distribute the fish over a larger area of the river than is possible by the state stocking crew. Fish pens are loaned to the chapter by First Light Anglers. The pens facilitate the safe moving of the fish into more remote parts of the river. Members paddle along the river placing fish at intervals as they travel.
There are six obstructions on the Parker between Central Street and Pentucket Pond. Because of these obstructions, anadromous wild trout do not have a sustainable population. This is why the chapter assists the state in stocking this particlar stretch of the river. Our mission is to continue to advocate for the thoughtful removal of these obstructions to restore the river back to it’s natural flow.
